Start Boating Right is the foundation course of the Core Curriculum and the place to begin. It is designed to start young mariners off safely with confidence, good boating habits and sound seamanship skills. SBR combines daily sailing and kayaking with informative shore side instruction. Water time is one week of off the beach sailing on beginner friendly Bugs and one week of kayaking on Hobie double kayaks. Weekly 10 question quizzes reinforce skills taught. Awards for high test score and "shipshape" sailor.

Prerequisites: Start Boating Right
The popular second step of the Core Curriculum devoted entirely to dinghy sailing. Basic Sailing builds on the skills taught in Start Boating Right. Daily on-the-water sailing exercises progressively develop each essential skill. Students alternate skipper and crew duties with sailing partner to learn both positions. Our very own Basic Sailing manual is included. End of session evaluation tests skills learned. Awards for high test score and "shipshape" sailor. Students 10 and under are encouraged to repeat this course before taking Intermediate Sailing.

Prerequisites: Basic Sailing
Intermediate is a step up in performance to agile, sporty Lasers. Sailing double-handed using a smaller 4.7 sail, students continue to hone their skills through intensive on-the-water instruction. Our own Sailing Theory Vol. 1 manual is included. End of session evaluation tests skills learned. Awards for high test score and "shipshape" sailor. Juniors under 13 are encouraged to repeat this course before taking Advanced Sailing.

Prerequisites: Intermediate Sailing, minimum 90 lbs.
Advanced Sailing is a challenging course for juniors seriously interested in polishing their sailing skills. Sailing single-handed full-rigged Lasers, students explore the finer points of sailing theory and boat handling. Students also have the opportunity to spend a day on our 17ft. Nomad, where spinnaker skills are introduced. Class includes intensive sailing drills and informal racing. Our own Sailing Theory Vol. II manual is included. End of session evaluation tests skills learned. Awards for high test score and "shipshape" sailor. May be repeated for individual skill development.
